DON'T MISS OUT! AMAZING THINGS ARE COMING!

ABOUT US

BELIEF #1

Cats are family, and life wouldn't be the same without them!  Great healthcare is important to help cats reach their fullest happy, healthy lives.

BELIEF #2

Veterinarians are well intentioned, but our rigorous schedules often don't leave us time to thoroughly educate our clients.  In medicine, prevention can be key! And in treating diseases, it's important to understand the disease, know your treatment options, and understand benefits and side effects of medications. Your cat can have a longer, healthier life if you understand the disease you are fighting.

BELIEF #3

Education changes lives!  I can teach YOU about your cat's health and discuss treatment options available to you that I've acquired over more than a decade in veterinary medicine so that YOU can be a better advocate for your cat's health. A thorough education will empower you to partner with your veterinarian as you make informed decisions about your cat's healthcare.

Hi!  I'M DR. JOY!

I am a veterinarian, wife to an amazing husband, and advocate for people and their pets. We currently have 6 crazy cats, and I have previously shared my life with 5 amazing dogs and 3 precious cats.

Animals have always held a special place in my heart. They've brought immeasurable fun, unconditional love, and laughter into my life. They have filled pieces of my soul when there weren't any humans I would let reach it.  And my heart has shattered into a thousand pieces every time I've had to say goodbye to my own pets, and often when I've helped guide my clients towards making those difficult decisions.

Early in my career, I realized that most of my clients, while intelligent, did not have a lot of "medical literacy"- ie their cat may have had a disease for a number of years, and they didn't entirely know what to expect with the disease, what their treatment options were, why they were using certain medications, or what their cat was experiencing.

My clients wanted to treat their cat's diseases or prevent them from occurring in the first place, but they often didn't understand the basics of what they were fighting or how to effectively fight it.

I treasure my animals, and my goal has always been to be able to help people take care of their pets by giving them all of the options possible.  I realized that the best ways to have the best outcomes for my patients was by thoroughly educating their pet parent.

Education is the great equalizer in achieving fantastic healthcare!  Understanding all your options for treating your cat's diseases can vastly improve their quality of life and their lifespan. A large percentage of my current patients are geriatric cats that have major disease battles, such as chronic kidney disease, chronic vomiting, or hyperthyroidism- and have been able to make it past 20 years of age with basic, but proactive life modifications.  I try to present clients with options ranging from "gold standard" all the way to options that won't break the bank.  I will tell you exactly where I would direct my dollars if I was limited in budget, and also share tips and tricks I have amassed over the following decade that can help you save your dollars, as well.

If you're tired of not knowing or understanding all your options, and your vet is just too busy to answer all your questions or is hard to reach...if you just don't know what questions to ask- I can help you understand the battle you are fighting, and help you take initiative to alter your cat's life.

If you don't understand your cat's medical condition(s) like you want, and you want to help your cat's quality and quantity of life, you don't have to stay there! Will you let me help you?

With highest regards,

Dr. Joy

P.S. I am creating new courses all the time!  Please feel free to email us with questions or suggestions for future courses.  Access to courses is not restricted, but my courses will be most helpful if your cat has been diagnosed with a specific medical condition- aka- this is not designed for you to self-diagnose your cat.  These courses do not exist in a void, but should be combined with your regular vet visits and labwork, which are essential to diagnosis and great outcomes!

MY STORY

I "decided" that I wanted to be a veterinarian when I was 4 years old, and by the grace of God, I never wavered from that difficult path.  I graduated vet school at age 24 as the youngest veterinarian in my class.

Over the nearly 12 years I've practiced, I've had the refreshing privilege of educating countless clients and helping guide their medical decisions.  I've smiled and cheered on their victories, and hugged and cried many tears with them, too. Veterinary medicine is a beautiful, but heartbreaking job.

While my laser focus has led me to a successful career, I realized that this was also destroying my ability to be involved in the lives of those I love.

But I am passionate about what I do, and I want to make the difference I know I was meant to make in this world! My goal has always been to be able to guide people towards the many available treatment options depending on what their goals and abilities allowed, so that I can best serve my patients and my clients!

After realizing that there was a way to achieve both balance in my life AND help people with their animals' healthcare, I decided to embark on a new adventure.  And so began Smitten with Schmittens &  Delighted by Doggos!

We offer online educational courses that are tailored to treatment options for a variety of diseases. I can help YOU understand your cat's disease and all the treatment options available, from the convenience of your home, on your time table.

I offer education that should be used in conjunction with your regular veterinary visits and recommended labwork so that you are the best advocat (haha) for your cat's health!  These courses are NOT a substitute for regular veterinary care and labwork, and are educational in nature.

I truly believe that I was called into this profession to serve others.  If you're ready to join me on an educational adventure, I am ready to lead the way

"My cat was my literal child before I ever had my daughters. Dr. Joy's passion for cat health and desire to teach others shines through her classes! She helped me dramatically improve my cat's chronic vomiting/hairballs- which she has had for YEARS!  Now my cat's happier, and so am I!  Thanks Doc!

"You are a wonderful reminder of how much good there is in the world.  Thank you so much for taking care of my Hendrix.  He was so special to me, he was my baby.  Saying goodbye to him was one of the hardest things I've had to do, but I am comforted by the fact that he was given such great care.  I appreciate your help with managing his kidney disease.  I was able to enjoy another 3 years with him after his diagnosis, and I am extremely grateful for that."
